Strong winds expected into Wednesday afternoon.
A 1-year-old Boulder Creek child was critically injured overnight after wind gusts that topped 40 mph in the Santa Cruz Mountains blew a tree down into a home, according to multiple news reports.
Strong winds from an approaching storm sent the tree crashing into a home on Bobcat Lane, off Highway 236 in the town near Big Basin Redwoods State Park, around 6:35 p.m., according to ABC7 News.The child was taken to Dominican Hospital and then to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, NBC’s KRON4 reported.
News reports said between four and six people were in the home at the time the tree came down and that rescuers performed lifesaving treatments on the child, who was critically injured but conscious and breathing when transported to the hospital.
