She'll get her Montrose home picture perfect and then find another dining table, chandelier or chair that she can't live without.
Though many of her luxury design clients seek her help as they build new or renovate very large homes, Stewart finds herself happiest in her 2,645-square-foot, 3-story home in Montrose, where she knows her neighbors and can walk to a variety of restaurants. Her treatment of her ever-changing home is an example of how simpler refreshes can make big changes in a home. Here are 10 lessons, straight from Stewart's own home.
Houston interior designer Missy Stewart refreshed her kitchen by installing new counters and backsplash using Neolith's Calacatta Gold. She painted the cabinets Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black and used oversized brass hardware for a bolder contrast.Stewart’s kitchen began with a nice counter and mosaic glass backsplash, but she likes the clean lines of counter materials extending up the wall using marble, quartzite or even quartz.
Stewart chose dark wood with brass hardware for the primary bathroom. Natural wood cabinets — instead of painted cabinets — are popular again. Her new brass cabinet pulls are slightly oversized for a bolder contrast against the black paint, though not every kitchen will call for bigger and bolder hardware.Black is Stewart’s favorite color and she used to have several walls painted that color. After collecting more art and seeing it against the black walls, she changed her mind.
