Rey Skywalker is a compelling character and warrior, but she has a lot to learn before she’s ready to take on apprentices in her New Jedi Order film.
Rey Skywalker was an interesting character to center the Star Wars sequel trilogy around because of her strong connection to the Force and the way she was able to learn how to pilot the Millennium Falcon so quickly. That doesn’t mean she’s the strongest Jedi audiences have ever seen.
Additionally, Luke inherited his father Anakin’s skills as a pilot. In addition to being the one who destroyed the first Death Star, Luke’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances highlights that his true power is versatility. While his arc in the sequel trilogy may not have been what many were expecting, he still shows that he can adapt and change when Rey comes to Ahch-To. Luke reconsiders his priorities, even if it’s not something he wanted to do.
9 Palpatine Rey’s grandfather was one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, and if he had been at full might during The Rise of Skywalker, Rey may not have had the strength to defeat him. Palpatine was 119 years old when he faced off against Rey in The Rise of Skywalker and was looking to use her to restore his body. This shows that even though they were fighting on one of the oldest Sith planets, Exegol, he wasn’t as strong as he had been in the original or prequel trilogies.
Because of Ahsoka’s diverse experiences, she is resilient and knows the pitfalls of the dark side, as she had seen how it had corrupted her former master. While Ahsoka has strong ties to the light side of the Force because of the Daughter, Rey through her grandfather has a powerful bond with the dark side. Though Rey is successful at fighting off the dark side, she is constantly tempted.
4 Han Solo The pilot who did the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, Han Solo was a legend in the galaxy for his skills as a pilot for the Rebel Alliance. Han was a risk-taker and often got lucky; however, his ability to pilot was rivaled by few. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Han even offered Rey a spot on his ship for her to learn more about piloting. Although he never got the chance to follow through on his, he was still the superior pilot in the film.
