11 A Serbian Film A Serbian Film might be the most disgusting movie ever made. It follows a struggling adult film performer who agrees to participate in an art film. However, it is actually a snuff movie, with a heavy focus on necrophilia. It is precisely as stomach-churning as it sounds, and has been banned in several countries. After several rounds of cuts, it managed to achieve an NC-17 rating in the US, but not without achieving the title of the most disturbing movie ever made.
8 100 Tears 100 Tears is an obscure B-movie released in 2007, but boasts some of the most violent scenes in splatter movie history. It follows two journalists pursuing a clown who is unjustly accused of sexual assault and subsequently enacts a violent killing spree. In fact, despite the tiny budget, 100 Tears has some pretty impressive gore sequences, each overseen by the haunting, lumbering clown. 100 Tears is a visceral exhibition of human torment and slaughter, earning its NC-17 rating.
5 Santa Sangre Avant-garde surrealism met extreme horror in 1989's Santa Sangre . It was directed by Chillian-Ukrainian filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, who previously directed the surrealist movies The Holy Mountain and El Topo. It follows a young former circus performer, who escapes to a psychiatric hospital to find his mother, who has become the leader of a murderous, religious cult.
