CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. —According to the flight tracking website FlightAware FedEx 1376 took off from Lovell Field at 10:24 p.m. circled the airport several times and returned at 11:48 p.m.
Fire units from around the area were signaled an Alert 3 response, which meant the pilot was concerned there may be an imminent crash due to the issue with the plane. Lindsey Rogers, Chattanooga Fire spokesperson told WTVC the issue was discovered by the crew on the final approach to land at the airport.
The plane crash-landed, skidding off the end of the runway. It came to a rest between the runway and Jubilee Drive in the safety area," Rogers said. Chattanooga Fire Department, Chattanooga Police Department and Hamilton County EMS quickly staged in position and waited as the aircraft circled before making its final descent with three people on board."Great work by the pilot and airport personnel, as well as all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts," Rogers said.
