One of those surprise “yes” votes, Sen. John Hoeven , a relative conservative in the GOP conference, even received a round of applause from bipartisan infrastructure group members who were gathered in the Senate chamber during the vote. Jim Inhofe , who voted against advancing the bill, said in a statement he still wants to “get to a yes vote if possible,” because “there are two main things we should be doing here: national defense and infrastructure.”
The package includes $550 billion in new spending on infrastructure, including $110 billion for roads, bridges and other core infrastructure projects, $65 billion for broadband and $39 billion for public transit.
