Officials in California said it was unclear how the teenage suspect was able to start the aircraft.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to police, who would not release her name because of her age.
When Fresno authorities arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call, they found the teenager seated in the pilot seat of the aircraft"wearing a pilot's headset," Bessinger said. A small plane sits parked after it was crashed into a fence by a 17-year-old girl, Dec. 18, 2019, at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport in Fresno, Calif.
The hanger was a general aviation fixed-base facility, and Bessinger said it was on the west side of the airport. The commercial terminal and military area, he said, are located on the east side, about a quarter-mile away or more.
