The two other drivers were not injured in the crash, according to police.
A 17-year-old driver died after a crash sent his vehicle into a utility pole and tree in Dauphin County on Thursday morning, according to police.
The crash was reported at 7:35 a.m. in the area of Route 209 and Railroad Street, Williams Township, police said. A 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 74-year-old man, was attempting to negotiate a left turn onto Railroad Street while the teen drove a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt approached the intersection, police said.
The Cobalt hit the front right corner of the Silverado while it was in the southbound lane, police said. The Cobalt then hit a utility pole, and a tree before going down a steep embankment where it finally stopped.The 74-year-old man and 51-year-old woman were not injured in the crash, police said. The 17-year-old boy, who was not identified by police, had to be extricated by first responders and was transported to Hershey Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office.Anyone with information on the crash should contact the state police Lykens barracks at 717-362-8700.
