The teen died on Saturday, May 20 after scaling part of the bridge on its eastern side, according to LAPD.
Police went to the area at around 2 a.m. and found the teen’s body. In an email, LAPD said witnesses told officers they say the teen “was attempting to climb the architecture of the bridge when he slipped and fell.
”LAPD Chief Michel Moore said in Tuesday’s Police Commission meeting that police believe the teen was “trying to broadcast” himself on social media. But there was little other information about what he was doing before he fell. It’s not clear if he was filming himself or if others were filming him.
