Clear Brook girls use 18-0 run to rally past Dickinson for District 24-6A title
Clear Brook players react as the Wolverines play Dickinson Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 at Clear Brook High School.Trailing for much of the game but never out of touch, Clear Brook used its trademark tenacity to secure a second consecutive District 24-6A girls basketball title Wednesday night.
Clear Brook will meet Alief Hastings or Alief Taylor in a bi-district playoff matchup next week, while the Lady Gators will also meet one of those teams in their first-round postseason game.Lady Wolverines sophomore point guard Rezia Castillo has been a starter on both exceptional squads. That basket ignited the 18-0 run, which culminated with sophomore Kamryn McLaurin’s steal and basket at the outset of the fourth quarter for a 47-31 cushion.
That flurry included five points from McLaurin and a 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line from Castillo.
