Two men were killed early Saturday after they broke into an apartment in Garland and a resident shot them in self-defense, police say.
Just before 2:30 a.m., police were called to the Woodlands at the Preserve complex in the 4300 block of North Garland Avenue after multiple people reported hearing gunshots. When officers arrived, they found two men who had been shot — one inside an apartment and the second just outside it. The men, who have not been identified, were both pronounced dead at the apartment complex.The apartment’s resident told officers the men forced their way into his unit and began shooting at him, and that he returned fire in self-defense, police said.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and trying to determine why the apartment was targeted.
