2 teens killed in 3-vehicle Hoffman Estates crash, police say
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has identified the two 18-year-olds who died Saturday morning when three vehicles collided in north suburban Hoffman Estates.
The driver who died was identified at Amelia Mzeikis, 18, of Hoffman Estates, while her passenger was identified as Dshaun Tudela, also 18 and of Hoffman Estates. At around 8:52 a.m., police officers were called to the intersection of Higgins and Barrington roads regarding a motor vehicle crash. One of the drivers, Mzeikis, was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities. Tudela was also transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Two other individuals sustained non-life threatening injuries, police stated.
While a cause hasn't been determined, police say an initial investigation indicates alcohol may have been involved. Feeling out of the loop? We'll catch you up on the Chicago news you need to know. Sign up for the weekly
