Two women were found dead Monday in an apparent murder-suicide at a northwest Harris County apartment complex, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies got called to the Derby at Steeplechase Apartments just before 6 p.m. on Saturday evening when neighbors reported hearing gunfire. One neighbor had a bullet fly through their apartment wall.Deputies who responded tried to contact others who live in the same building and the leasing office, but didn’t have any luck, so they wrote a report and left, Sgt. Beall said.
“They actually jumped the fence and were able to see what looked to be a body on the floor inside the neighbor’s apartment,” Sgt. Beall said. “We’ve got probably four or five spent shell casings. We have some live rounds that were ejected, and we do have a pistol on the scene.”
