That drive to be better made Lasko one of the top players in the state, helping Jackson Memorial win a South Jersey, Group 4 title in 2018 and an appearance in the championship game of the Last Dance World Series in 2020.Lasko was selected by the Oakland Athletics with the 41st overall pick in the second round in the 2023 MLB Draft on Sunday, becoming the first Rutgers player drafted in this year’s three-day event.
“He was just different,” Malta told NJ Advance Media before the draft. “It’s just the explosiveness, the instincts, the way he played in the outfield.”
