Authorities have released the name of a man shot to death Wednesday during an argument at a south Birmingham apartment complex. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the victim as Jayvonne David Banks, 28, of Birmingham.

The deadly shooting happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at Adona apartments off Green Springs Highway. Authorities have released the name of a man shot to death Wednesday during an argument at a south Birmingham apartment complex.

Banks had collapsed on the sidewalk in front of a building. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:40 p.m. It wasn’t immediately clear if the victim was also armed. Police marked at least 14 shell casings at the scene.
