36-year-old man was found dead near a stairwell, authorities said.
Officers from the Mount Laurel Police Department were called to the theon Route 73 just before 10 a.m. for a report of two men fighting, the office said. When they arrived, they found the body of Michael Jefferies, 36, of Mount Laurel, on the ground outside of a second-floor room near a stairwell.
Detectives alleged Taylor Perkins stabbed Jeffries and fled on foot to a nearby BMW dealership and drove off in a SUV, investigators said. He abandoned the SUV in Evesham and stole a truck belonging to an Xfinity worker who was up on a ladder, officials alleged. He was eventually arrested at a home on Decatur Street in Camden.
