The Coast Guard is helping to clean up about 3,800 gallons of light crude oil was spilled into Corpus Christi Bay Saturday.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The U.S. Coast Guard on Saturday reported it is helping to clean up after about 3,800 gallons of light crude oil was spilled into Corpus Christi Bay.
The spill was reported about 11 p.m. Saturday. It was determined the oil came from a pipeline that had cracked in multiple places. The Coast Guard said there were no initial impacts to wildlife but that environmental assessments were ongoing. The oil sheen was approximately 300 by 20 yards. More than 1,500 feet of spill boom was deployed to absorb the oil.
