Tecolote Shores North park features an array of kid- and adult-friendly equipment, and is the first of two major upgrades to the bayside area.
playground in Mission Bay Park reopened Saturday following a $3.8 million upgrade replete with modern play areas for kids, a variety of fitness equipment for adults, and practical improvements to accommodate park-goers and people with disabilities.
“From the new playground to the fitness equipment, it is wonderful. The kids are all over it. This is a good sign. When the kids like it then we did a good job,” Gloria said. “My commitment to you is to continue to invest in neighborhood infrastructure. We are an amazing city. We have a magnificent quality of life. But it’s only made better when we have high-quality infrastructure.
Kids play areas feature standard fare such as rope ladders, swings and slides — albeit with modern twists. There are also swivel seats, obstacle areas and sensory toys. The adults section comes with outdoor elliptical machines, pull-up bars, monkey bars, parallel bars and a rope climb. An adjacent area with multiple slack lines is meant to entertain risk-takers while also preventing hobbyists from tying webbing to trees.
