One of them is this two-tone stash jar from Brooklyn-based studio Mamasun that opens and closes with a circular cork stopper.
$139 at Marie Burgos Buy Malene Barnett Lava $1,550 $1,550 An actual work of art, this 16-inch-tall stoneware sculpture by artist and activist Malene Barnett is handmade and one-of-a-kind. The Brooklyn-based Barnett is the founder of the Black Artists + Designers Guild, a collective of independent Black creatives, and has shown her work at galleries and museums across the country.
$45 at Utility Objects Buy Carlynne Ceramics Portraiture Mug $120 This painterly mug is made by hand by Nala Turner, a Brooklyn-based artist and post-graduate art therapist. It’s among a handful of ceramics she sells on her website, many of which feature similar portraiture depicting Black women. $68 at Tiana Tucker Buy Deep Black Large Shallow Sapphire Orbita Plate + Mini Stick Incense Adapter $200 $200 Deep Black founder Sherród Faulks says, “This is the kind of dish you set out on your dining table and never remove except to top up with more fruit, serve the main course, or move to enhance another room.” It comes with a matching incense-burning adapter you can pop on top, making the piece even more functional.
