St. Joseph School welcomed some special students back to class on Friday for the first time in quite a few years.
More than 300 grandparents joined their grandchildren for the annual Grandparents Day at St. Joseph School in Penfield on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. welcomed some special students back to class on Friday for the first time in quite a few years.
Grandparents of students got to attend classes with their grandchildren for the annual Grandparents Day event. "It means the world," said grandmother Becky Stauffer. "I never thought I'd be on this end of it. I was on the teaching end of it, so it's fun to be on the grandparent end of it and be able to have time with the boys."More than 300 grandparents helped their grandchildren with special projects before attending Mass with the entire school community.
"It's a huge event and the faculty started prepping for this event in August," said school librarian Trish Harrison. "It's a big deal, the kids love it, it really fosters a sense of community, and that's really what we're all about here at St. Joe's."
