Dozens of football players from two Arkansas high schools have been suspended for at least one game because of a fight that broke out after their matchup.
Cellphone video shows players from the Mills High Comets and the Pine Bluff High Zebras brawling after their game in Pine Bluff last Friday, Oct. 6, ended.Both school districts say they're investigating, and there are better ways for players to handle their emotions.Maybe it's just a bunch of pent-up energy or something; everybody is just all hyped up for the game," Noah Sorrells said.
It shows that a simple misunderstanding can kind of escalate, and people are willing to risk it all for the friends or whatever they're fighting for," Lakirah Franklin said. School leaders stressed student-athletes should never run toward a fight, because a fight that only involves two people would not normally last long.
The Pulaski County Special School District put out this statement: "Pulaski County Special School District is aware of the incident that occurred immediately following the varsity football game between Mills University Studies and Pine Bluff High Schools on Friday, October 6. The district is working with AAA and Pine Bluff School District officials to review the incident and determine the next course of action," PCSSD Spokesperson Jessica Duff said.
