The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Jumarcus Dejuan Faison.
Authorities said Faison was a backseat passenger in a vehicle that was traveling northbound on I-59 just before 12:30 a.m. The wreck happened when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a disabled vehicle that was stopped on the interstate at the Roebuck Parkway exit.
Faison was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
