The picture takes a minute to clear up on my phone, but the calls work out well. It also only shows the ceiling when you pop in on it, so you don't have to worry that anyone who video calls you will be able to see anything . There is also a little button that allows you to physically cover the camera with flap so no one can see on the camera if you don't want it.
We also use it for recipes, lights, the thermostat, to control our TV, and to learn words to songs. I love that it shows the current weather outside all day and will flash to the week's weather forecast as well since we live in Chicago and the weather changes hourly.
