José Andrés has had a long and successful career in the restaurant world, but it’s his humanitarian efforts that have defined his work in recent years.
In 2010, the legendary D.C.-based chef founded World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that strives to feed communities in the wake of wars and natural disasters. Since then, WCK teams of chefs and volunteers have cooked millions of meals, traveling to places such as Puerto Rico, Afghanistan, Ukraine and the United States, and earning several awards along the way.
