A desperate 911 call from inside the collapsed Amazon warehouse in Illinois reveals chaos and confusion in the wake of the deadly tornado
Amazon has defended its response. In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson said the company followed federal tornado safety guidelines by acting as quickly as it could to get employees to shelter inside the building.
The three women, delivery drivers employed by an Amazon contractor, pulled into the southern lot of the warehouse after 8:00 pm on December 10, the caller told the dispatcher. The tornado ripped through the warehouse shortly before 8:30 pm, according to the county's emergency management agency, and causing two of its 40-foot-high, 11-inch-thick concrete walls to collapse.
