A new electric Porsche has one power Tesla lacks: the power to make people look twice. Our columnist says this Taycan has some deficiencies, but few that are meaningful.

It costs more and has a shorter range than Tesla. But with relatively few in production, this gorgeously styled roadster has the power to make people look twice.

The TTSCT offers half the EPA-estimated range and it costs more than twice as much. Oof. The Porsche is also 638 pounds heavier. While the Porsche is capable of DC fast-charging up to 270 kW and 800V, it lacks access to a fast-charging network comparable to Tesla’s Supercharger stations. The TTSCT sits a little higher on its suspension than the regular Taycan Turbo S. Its air suspension allows it to levitate another 30 mm.

You will see the proffered “Gravel” mode, which activates the air suspension and optimizes the slip-and-slide quotients for loose terrain and rough roads. The TTSCT also provides all manner of aural feedback, humming, warbling, rumbling sounds, inside and out, depending on the driving situation.
