The family would never be the same, but now, they say they're focusing their energy on moving forward.
She was reading the words of a tattoo, which is how Marcia chose to honor the mass shooting she survived in the last weeks leading up to July 4 this year.
The ink of her tattoo is just inches from the same spot on her foot where she was shot. Her husband Mike was also shot in the leg."I couldn't logically explain what had happened or how fortunate we were to have survived it," Marcia said. "Even still, going through town it's kind of a little creepy seeing where it happened," Peyton said."I don't think I'll ever feel truly 100% safe again."
"I think that's something I'm always going to do to be more prepared and keep myself safe," she said.
