The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts both of August’s full moons to be supermoons. A supermoon occurs when a full moon is closer to us in its orbit around the Earth. Supermoons happen about three to four times a year.Supermoons are slightly larger than the typical full moon, according to NASA. The size difference may be imperceptible from Earth,August’s supermoons may also look brighter in the sky than regular full moons, though Gurdemir said viewers may not be able to tell the difference.
“We encourage people to just look at the sky, and enjoy the beautiful view of the full moon,” Gurdemir said.
