Myles Colvin's dunks are jaw-dropping, but he needs to keep winning to give Purdue a shot at a third-straight Mr. Basketball winner.
It’s good to have options. Purdue fans are likely salivating at the chance to add Colvin to an already-impressive array of in-state talent next season. His future coach, Matt Painter, said on signing day in November that Colvin is “the best player in the state and obviously we’ve been fortunate enough to have the top two players in the state the last couple of years.”“Whenever I’m free I try to go up there as much as possible,” he said of Purdue.
“It’s really exciting,” said Colvin, who is ranked No. 73 in the 2023 class nationally on the 247Sports composite. “Just because all the guys on the team are a lot of guys who work hard and are under the radar. I think I fit that type of player, and I think they are looking for guys that will work hard and get the job done.”This season has not been perfect for Colvin, whose team was 1-5 before ticking off wins over Pendleton Heights, Triton Central and Tindley to creep within a game of .
Colvin played a facilitator role at times Tuesday night, setting up teammates Luke Peters and Tyler Allemeier for open looks. The Eagles have some other senior veterans in the lineup, including point guard Dylan Doss, Indiana baseball recruit Andrew Wiggins and Nolen Duncan.Wallace said the breakthrough for Colvin has been in areas of leadership on and off the court.
