The Rockets' season ended with a loss against the Hawks, but there is plenty to look...
Rockets head coach Stephen Silas watches the game during the first half of an NBA basketball game at Toyota Center on Sunday, April 10, 2022, in Houston. The game could have been treated as and then viewed as just another loss, one of 62 in a season that saw the Rockets produce the NBA’s worst record for a second consecutive season. But they would not allow that.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for our whole group and having all of this improvement that our group has had come together and be a collective improvement,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas said. “I think we’ve seen it in spurts as far as being a collective improvement, but you really don’t get that true, group forward push until everybody’s kind of comfortable in their role and they’re game and they’ve seen it before and there’ll be a lot less peaks and valleys.
That was what was on display on Sunday and what they saw in him all season. They already knew he could jump high. Green showed what he was determined to do with all that ability. Silas, however, had that belief because of what he saw between the struggles early in the season, before the work could pay off as it has.
“How the game slows down for those guys who are really good and special, but it really is about who they are as people and the belief that they have in themselves and structure, for the most part, the structures, that's put in place for them to succeed. “I think the word I can use is 'comfortable.' I got confidence going through this season and my teammates helped me off the court, my family, the coaching staff, everyone in the Houston Rockets facility helped me.”
