About 81 passengers in total were expected on the bus, which pulled into 30th Street Station shortly after 6 a.m. Two children were among the passengers.
In the past 10 days, about 150 people have arrived outside 30th Street station, sent here, local officials said, by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Everyone sent to Philadelphia has permission to be in the United States, at least while they pursue claims in federal Immigration Court, the Inquirer said. Almost all are seeking asylum, a legal means to stay in the country for those facing persecution in their homelands.
The immigrants that arrived this morning were checked for medical emergencies, offered blankets and coats, and then moved onto a SEPTA bus. Any who were not being picked up by family members at the station were going to the welcome center, the site said.
