Accused Cleveland mass shooter, facing 5 murder charges, to appear in court Wednesday
in a mass shooting in Montgomery County looks set to make an appearance before a judge Wednesday morning.
Oropeza was briefly jailed in Montgomery County after authorities found him at his sister’s home in the town of Cut and Shoot, about 13 miles from where the shooting happened. Sometime after 6 p.m., police discovered Oropeza hiding under a pile of laundry in a closet, San Jacinto County officials said. Authorities arrested him without incident.Ahead of the man’s appearance this morning, here’s what we know about the case.
Sheriff Greg Capers during a 9 p.m. Tuesday news conference in Cleveland said tips about Oropeza's potential whereabouts came in from across the nation, including Wyoming and Florida. More than 200 law enforcement officials aided in the search.as officials searched across Texas and beyond the U.S.-Mexico border for the suspect.
Capers has not responded to repeated requests for comment on response times. His office has not produced 911 call logs or dispatch records.
