I understand, viscerally, just how deep the fear of a second Trump term runs and how fierce the desire is to end the national nightmare of his presidency by whatever means possible. Like Friedman, I hear, all too often, downtrodden Democrats hanging their heads and saying, “He’s probably going to win again.” We—the 3 million more people who voted against him—are protecting ourselves and girding for the worst.
