Officials 'haunted by choices' at airport, 'majority' of SIVs left behind: State Department official
"Everybody who lived it is haunted by the choices we had to make and by the people we were not able to help depart in this first phase of the operation," a senior State Department official who was on the ground at the airport in Kabul told reporters late Wednesday morning.The abandoned airport in Kabul where civilians were processed for evacuations is now under the control of the Taliban, Aug. 31, 2021.
