Brand-new Ahsoka footage reveals new aspects of the upcoming, live-action Star Wars show. After Rosario Dawson's version of the character was introduced in The Mandalorian season 2, the character's solo-series is scheduled to begin airing on Disney+ sometime in August 2023.
Now, after the official Ahsoka trailer debuted yesterday, a new extended version was screened exclusively for attendees of the Star Wars Celebration event underway in London, which includes Screen Rant. While similar to the public version, this trailer included a front-shot of Grand Admiral Thrawn, revealing frequent fancast Lars Mikkelsen in the role.

Lucasfilm and Disney are essentially adapting Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire with the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Grand Admiral Thrawn's return to Star Wars ties Star Wars Rebels into the events of Dawson's upcoming Disney+ series. New images of live-action Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla have been released at Star Wars Celebration 2023, as well, following up the pair's appearance in the Ahsoka trailer. While Ahsoka delves deep into the mystery of Grand Admiral Thrawn's nefarious plans, their involvement will likely be about searching for the missing Jedi, Ezra.
At this point, it's uncertain if Lucasfilm and Disney are planning on adapting Zahn's Thrawn trilogy in Ahsoka. But as one of the most prominent villains of Star Wars during the so-called dark times, there's massive anticipation for his live-action arrival. Interestingly, the Disney+ series could also finally give Star Wars Rebels a definitive ending following a cliffhanger finale.
