Alicia KeysKeys is the magazine's September cover star, and she performed at the event. But before she took the stage, she walked the red carpet in a super slick ponytail that ended in a crown of asymmetrical braids wrapped in gold chains. She kept the eye-catching statement to her head, and wore a simple black dress and pink heels.
For her performance, Keys unwrapped the braids for one long, chained ponytail. It's a shame that a hairstyle so sick didn't last all night, but the genius transformation takes "day to night" styles to a new level. Keys herself is clearly a major fan of the look; she shared a close-up on Instagram with the caption "unchained at the Plaza."
