Weyland-Yutani has wanted to get its hands on the Xenomorph since the very first installment of the Alien franchise, and now, fans know exactly why.

Since the first installment of the Alien series, it was established that the evil company of the franchise, Weyland-Yutani, wanted to get its hands on the Xenomorph for reasons not fully made clear. It was always assumed the company wanted to develop the creature as a weapon, but one comic series presents another possibility explaining Weyland-Yutani’s obsession with the creature, one that makes a lot more sense than using Xenomorphs to kill people.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In the 1979 film, Alien, the crew of the Nostromo descend upon an alien world after receiving a distress beacon. Once there, a member of their crew is exposed to a Facehugger and subsequently impregnated with a Xenomorph that bursts forth from his chest while the Nostromo was already flying through space back to Earth.

Weyland-Yutani Wants the Xenomorphs’ Biological Material for Terraforming In Aliens: Fire and Stone #2 by Chris Roberson and Patric Reynolds, an escape vessel from Hadley’s Hope has crash-landed on LV-223 with a horde of Xenomorphs hiding in the ship’s cargo hold.

During the months spent on LV-223, Russell discovers the Black Goo that was first introduced in Prometheus, and he determines that the mutagen substance is what is responsible for this world looking the way it does. When these survivors came to LV-223 from LV-426, the information they had on this world was that it was a barren landscape, but upon their arrival, it was brimming with life.

As explained in Alien: Covenant, Xenomorphs were originally derived from the Engineers’ Black Goo . This means that within Xenomorph DNA exists the key to this level of terraforming, which would make Weyland-Yutani humanity’s most successful terraforming company in existence.
