CLEVELAND — Dejounte Murray marveled at the way DeMar DeRozan carried himself during his three seasons with the Spurs.
“I don’t ever want to be big-headed,” said the Spurs point guard, who made his first All-Star appearance Sunday. “I want to always have good people around me who are willing to push me and who aren’t afraid to tell me what I need to know.” “He is super-underrated,” Young said of Murray, who is averaging 19.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 9.3 assists and a league-best 2.0 steals for the 23-36 Spurs.
“Seeing his potential, his work ethic, the adversity he has faced in his life, with his injury , and seeing his approach to those things, he’s a true competitor, always trying to find a way to get better,” Mills said. “There was never any doubt he would become an All-Star. He deserved it this year. I’ve enjoyed watching him, not just as a former teammate, but as a basketball fan.”
