From November through April, Alley Cat Oyster Bar will reward dinners for sampling oyster varieties.
Alley Cat Oyster Bar is launching an oyster passport program through April 2024. Try a variety of oysters and earn awards. The Flats East Bank restaurant at 1056 Old River Rd, Cleveland, is launching its first Oyster Passport. Starting Nov. 6 and continuing through April 2024, diners receive a stamp for each new oyster variety sampled. Just under 60 oyster varieties are listed in the passport.
To ease decisions and educate diners, Serena says, “Each oyster listed in the passport has their growing conditions, harvest area details, tasting notes, and pairing suggestions.”“Tasting the difference from each oyster as we bounce around from oyster bed to oyster bed, especially as the water gets colder in the winter months, the oysters in my opinion intensify in flavor,” says executive chef Al Ives.
Among the more common and readily available oysters will be Boomamoto’s and Great Whites, both from Barnstable Harbor, Cape Cod, Mass., and Lady Chatterley from Northumberland Strait, Prince Edward Island, Canada. All are served raw from the restaurant’s Oyster Bar. However, a stuffed oyster option is possible for those who want to try oysters, but not raw oysters. Oysters are $2.50 to $3.50 each.35 oysters wins $25 gift card & one chance on wine dinner.55 oysters wins two tickets to the five-course wine dinner on Friday, May 3, 2024.Cleveland.com
