Alligator expert Frank Robb was called in from Florida to help catch the animal, which he did around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the gator to be relatively healthy. Chance the Snapper is about 5 feet in length and weighs nearly 40 pounds. A spokeperson for Chicago Animal Care and Control toldOfficials say the alligator will eventually be returned to a proper sanctuary or zoo.
