Today, identifying as Christian no longer carries the same “cultural capital” it once did. Many people see the failings of churches, denominations and pastors as a reflection of Jesus with which they do not want to associate. Our research at He Gets Us found that focusing on Jesus’ humanity resonates with those who are skeptical of Christianity. Jesus understood loneliness, anxiety and other struggles, making him relatable to people facing these challenges.Of course, Christians and churches still have a lot of work to do.
