Amy Jo Johnson, who played the original Pink Power Ranger, reveals why she skipped the series’ upcoming 30th-anniversary reunion special.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Alwayswho played the original Pink Power Ranger for more than 130 episodes in the hit ’90s show and movie, has opted to skip the project.that while she “never said no” to the reunion, “I just didn’t say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in-store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick ass!”
On Sunday, the actor clarified her reasons for not returning—and insisted that they were not necessarily financially motivated. “Please stop saying I didn’t do [the] reunion because of money. Simply not true,” she . “Maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s or couldn’t go to NZ [New Zealand, where the reunion was filmed] for a month. Or none of ur beeswax.”last year—“both chose not to for our own reasons,” and thatwas filmed before his death. In a follow-up tweet, Johnson added that she was “excited to see [her] pals”the original Black Ranger, “rock it” in the special.the second Pink Power Ranger in the series, will reprise her role in the reunion.
The project takes place 30 years after the Power Rangers were formed by the all-powerful Zordon, when “the team comes face-to-face with a familiar threat from the past,” Netflix’s synopsis reads. “In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs.”
