Analysis: Why permanent daylight saving time may not be that great
Notice that, wherever you are, it’s likely that some part of December and January would see darkness until past 8 a.m. Sure, you’d have it light later — but not much. Maybe a bit into your evening commute, if you have an evening commute that starts around 5 p.m. the time the country experimented with permanent daylight saving time in the 1970s. As it turns out, consistently sending kids to school in the dark led to a number of accidents and injuries.
