LOS ANGELES — The Lakers returned to Crypto.com Arena for Game 3 of their second-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors, once again held in the warm embrace of their fans. They returned to the place and the style of play they’re most familiar and comfortable with in the playoffs.
After playing a loose game in their loss to the Warriors in Game 2 on Thursday, the Lakers recaptured the physical style of play that carried them past the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs and enabled them to swipe Game 1 from the Warriors on Tuesday in San Francisco. By halftime, the Lakers were halfway to meeting their goals. The Lakers led 59-48 after a half in which each team led by as many as 11 points and the old adage about the NBA being a game of runs was never truer. The question was whether the second half would play out similarly.Davis and James made sure the Lakers stayed in front comfortably. Davis scored 25 points on 7-for-10 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds. James had 21 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
