Charles Bradshaw, 22, was sentenced to three years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
OAKLAND — An Antioch resident was sentenced to three years in federal prison for illegally possessing four firearms found at a November 2020 traffic stop, court records show.
Charles Bradshaw, 22, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm last September, and has been in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin since last July when he was booked on this case.a search of Bradshaw’s car and home, and that he was wanted for an unrelated warrant out of San Mateo County. The guns included an AR-style pistol and a short-barrel rifle with a red dot sight, neither of which had a serial number, according to the criminal complaint.
In court records, Bradshaw’s attorney Dena Marie Young wrote that Bradshaw’s difficult upbringing factored into his crimes. He became addicted to drugs at a young age, and survived being shot at age 13, she wrote in a sentencing memo. “Much of Mr. Bradshaw’s adult criminal history involves running away whether from the police or from others who threaten his life. His drug use made him feel paranoid and nervous. It adversely impacted his relationships with his family,” Young wrote. She later added, “Mr. Bradshaw wants to use his time in prison to obtain vocational training so that he has options for future employment.
Bradshaw wasn’t allowed to possess guns because of a prior conviction for evading police, authorities said in court records.
