Only one NFL team has three players that have at least 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards so far in 2022 — and they're playing Sunday at TIAA Bank Field. Here's how the Jaguars' passing game is spreading the wealth.
"You've got a room now that anybody can get the hot hand in any given week," Pederson said in March shortly following the free agency period when asked about the role of a No. 1 receiver."And it all goes back to game planning a little bit on how we want to use these guys and gameplan ... it's really hard to just put a number on it when anybody could make those plays in any given week.
All three players have been used in many ways this season. Oftentimes, it depends on who gets the hot hand on a week-in and week-out basis. Through 14 weeks, the Jaguars are the only team in the NFL with three players that have at least 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards, according to Pro Football Reference.
In October, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence spoke about getting the ball to Kirk, who had been the team's best playmaker up to that point of the season. He pointed out that there's a fine line between force-feeding and getting the ball to other players that are dictated by the defense they see or the offense they're in.
“I think a lot of it has just been, in terms of the pass game, the matchups we’re looking for in certain situations. There hasn’t been a huge need to feature the running back in the pass game with the things we’ve done," Taylor said then."We’ve been able to put Christian , Evan , Zay , those guys in situations to feature matchups."
