Houston police responded to a non-fatal shooting early Sunday after a security guard was shot at an apartment complex.A security guard was shot early Sunday at an apartment complex, according to Houston Police Department officials.
The man was struck in the leg and taken to a hospital once police and the fire department arrived at the scene in the 6000 block of Rampart Street. The security guard had been working in his role at the apartment complex when he was shot. He had been sitting in a golf cart, talking to residents when they heard gunshots from the apartment complex parking lot, Lt. Ignacio Izaguirre told On Scene reporters. Moments later, more shots rang out, which is when the guard was wounded, officials said.Officers around 12:30 a.m. arrived at the South Oak Apartments complex.
As of Sunday morning, police were still trying to determine the shooter's intended target, Izaguirre said. Witnesses told police they saw a man running back to his apartment after shots were fired, but no suspects were in custody as of early Sunday.
