The Santa Clara County Fire Department has resolved a hazardous materials incident that occurred at Apple Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Santa Clara County Fire Department Captain Justin Stockman told FOX Business that a section of Apple's campus was evacuated due to a suspicious package discovered by an employee.
"The initial 9-1-1 call reported a "white powder," however when our crews arrived on scene what they actually found was a suspicious mail item with a bulky object inside of it," Stockman said. "Our Hazardous Material Team, based in the City of Cupertino and staffed by seven Hazardous Materials Specialists, isolated the scene, made entry, and used several analytical techniques to determine that the envelope and its contents did not contain a hazardous substance.
"Public safety agencies in Santa Clara County appreciate community members like the one that noticed this concerning mail item yesterday, and will continue to treat all potential threats as credible until definitively proven otherwise," Stockman added.GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HERE The incident comes as Apple employees are preparing to return to the office in a phased approach starting on April 11. Employees will initially return one day a week before ramping up to three days a week beginning in late May. The three days will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, while the majority of employees will have the option to work remotely on Wednesday and Friday.
