Right now, Amazon is offering the 2021 Apple TV 4K (second generation) for $80, which is the lowest price we've seen for this model and $50 less than the new 2022 Apple TV 4K (third generation) which starts at $130.
That's not to say that the 2021 Apple TV 4K is a bad media streamer. It supports most of the best video and audio standards, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Dolby Atmos. The only standard it's missing from the 2022 model is, and it uses the older A12 processor. The remote is the same, except the newer version uses USB-C to recharge versus Lightning in the older model.
The 2021 Apple TV 4K for $80 is a solid deal for an Apple media streamer that a majority of people will enjoy. its typical $100. Roku's 2022 update of the Ultra comes with a Voice Remote Pro, and supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos.
