Forget ghosting, this new term is apparently more common than ever
terms out there, indeed it's almost a full time job just keeping up with all the new phrases and words. However there is one term in particular that seems to be on the rise: cause-playing.
Plenty of Fish have released a list of punchy names that refer to happenings in dating and cause-playing was on the list... but, what is it? It refers to getting back in touch with an ex after you’ve broken up to ask for a favour, usually something charity-related like donating to your just giving page. If you’ve ever had ‘hey, I’m playing a gig/running a marathon/doing a stand-up show, could you come along/donate?’ then you’ve probably been victim.
A whopping 47% of singles have experienced this phenomenon, with singles in their early 40s the most guilty of doing it. So, need your dog walked? Is your marathon donation page in need of a boost?
